I decided to start this blog as of January 2012, in hopes of getting my creative juices flowing again when it comes to my writing, and because writing, whether fiction or nonfiction, has always been a huge outlet for me. Cheaper than therapy, and, in my experience, at least as productive. I also absolutely adore the written word.
I like animals much more than most people, and have been a vegetarian (with some slip-ups) since I was thirteen. I don’t have kids, and live with my three dogs in the rural Northeast US. I have the utmost respect for people who can be in a committed, in-your-face-and-space relationship with someone else, and parent children, whether alone or with that someone else. Me? I’ll stick to pets, although if they keep up with these unexpected vet bills I might just trade them in for two-legged models that would have insurance!
I’ve struggled with severe depression and anxiety almost my entire life, even in childhood, and became aware that I was not “alone” in my head/body at quite a young age. My diagnoses include major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). So, mental “disorders” are things that often come up in my writing… I’ve studied it, I (somewhat) understand it, and I live it.
What can you expect to find here? Well, I’ll tell you: anything from poetry, jewelry, short stories, wands, random thoughts, excerpts from longer pieces I may be working on, psychology ponderances (the “other” major, besides English), mental disorder pieces (especially regarding Dissociative Identity Disorder, major depression, and generalized anxiety), etc. I also will create posts regarding animal welfare, environmentalism, and whatever else I feel passionate about. Some of the posts may be silly, some may be depressing, and anywhere and everywhere in between.
So, feel free to take a look around; please don’t hesitate to leave feedback. If you like, hang around, and, with any luck, I’ll get out of this funk and start posting with more regularity. Do share it with all your peeps if you think it would be of interest to them.
A *warning* though; this blog may contain material that may be triggering to some people… and oh, in case you haven’t realized this yet, although I *can* be funny, as can some of my people, this really isn’t a “humorous” blog, although I do laugh a lot when I write, because it’s my go-to reaction. If in doubt, laugh. But, yeah, I’m no comedian… most of these posts are about semi-serious subject matter.
Okay, well, have fun exploring and such, and spread the word!
